Delightful DIY: Meet Alana!

Gone are the days of store bought wedding decor! More and more brides are getting their hands dirty—or hiring a designer to do the dirty work—crafting beautiful, handmade pieces for their Big Day. Alana Jones-Mann is one such Do-It-Herself-er.

Alana is a Brooklyn-based baker, crafter, designer, and stylist who believes in the power of handmade details. “I truly believe that personal touches can make any occasion unforgettable,” Alana writes on her blog.  Working closely with clients, Alana creates unique elements that reflect the couple and their style. From simple desserts to elaborate backdrops, Alana’s creations add a special touch of wonder and beauty to any event—big or small!

We’ve asked Alana to share some of her favorite creations with us. Learn more about these beauties, then head over to her blog to see more awe-inspiring creations.

2. Pretty Pom Arrangement: Alana has styled a number of pom displays, but this is a personal favorite.  The muted shades, mixed with pops of bright color, add a fun touch to the whimsical arrangement.

3. Paper Rose Garland: Each of these delicate paper roses were painted and crafted by hand. Alana then strung them on a twine garland. The perfect way to add pretty detail to a wall or table edge

4. Mixed Paper Backdrop: Alana combined an array of paper pinwheels, rosettes, pennants, and poms in a mix of peach, pink and white hues to create a whimsical backdrop.

Rustic-Chic Wedding Favors

It's amazing how a stamp and a smidge of ink can literally transform an otherwise boring canvas.  A while back, we pinned an image of stamped wedding favors on our Pinterest board and were amazed at the response we got.  So, we decided to dedicate a blog post to the topic, hopefully as a bit of inspiration as you plan the precious details of your wedding.

Here at Winifred Bean, we absolutely LOVE the idea of adding personal touches to your big day.  Stamped wedding favor bags are an easy DIY, but the concept can extend to so much more.  Think stamped coasters, escort cards or even menus.  We love the instant rustic-chic vibe these stamped wedding items bring to the day.

The best part, this project is so easy!  To create the look, you'll need a rubber stamp, ink, and the item you want to stamp.  As with so many things DIY, Etsy or your local craft store are great places to start.
